Summary:
The Civil Engineer III – Civil Engineering performs civil engineering for renewable energy projects across the US and Canada.
Requirements:
- Performs lead civil engineering role on specific projects, including contract review, progress tracking, and interdepartmental communication, all with minimal supervision.
- Performs and reviews civil site design – reviews, supervises, and performs the road design, pad grading, drainage and hydrology, heavy involvement with CAD design team.
- Performs foundation designs, including wind turbine foundations, solar PV pilings, and miscellaneous plant structures.
- Reviews, performs, and organizes engineering tasks to support development and bids, permitting, and pre-construction activities.
- Provides input to contract exhibits.
- Identifies and communicates project risks.
- Coordinates designs with suppliers, owners, owner’s engineers, and other teams, both internal to RES and external.
- Writes specifications and scopes of work covering supply of materials and work to be performed
- Reviews and coordinates designs of third-party engineers.
- Performs construction support – including travel to project sites, technical support, shop drawing review, coordinates with sub-contractors, bid evaluation, and project close-out.
- Seeks continual improvement with aim of lowering costs.
- Operates Company aligned vehicle for site visits.
- Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
- Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field of study required.
- Master’s degree in civil engineering or a related field of study preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required.
- 4 or more years in civil site development, geotechnical or structural engineering disciplines required.
- 2 or more years’ experience as a field engineer on civil site, utility, or renewable energy projects preferred.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally 5 to 15% required.
- Must possess a Valid Driver’s license.
- Advanced level of knowledge in:
- Communication
- Internally with Estimating, Contracts, Development, Technical group, Construction team, Executives, Accountants, Procurement and Programming Departments
- Externally with Subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, owners, clients, land owners and jurisdictional agencies
- Oral and written skills to include:

Anticipated base salary range: $101,000 - $119,000
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
