Research Analyst- Public Sector (Federal)

WHAT YOU'LL DO


As a Research Analyst within BCG's Data & Research Services (DRS) team, you will provide secondary research in support of proposals, client cases, and business or IP development initiatives. You will specialize in Public Sector topics such as education, defense and security, economic development, welfare, public health, and infrastructure. You will be responsible for delivering analysis and insights on a variety of same-day and longer-term research projects.

The environment is fast paced including daily connects with our internal customers in the consulting teams and collaboration with Knowledge Team colleagues to refine/understand the scope, devise an appropriate approach; package and deliver to the satisfaction of the customer. YOU'RE GOOD AT


Delivering high-caliber research and analysis
  • Using your strong analytical thinking to provide innovative research approaches and data insights on key public sector topics such as defense and security, education, economic development, public health etc.
  • Cutting through information “noise” to identify, synthesize and communicate relevant, concise, and insightful output
  • Evaluating source quality and data accuracy, and proactively help to identify and raise research-related issues
  • Having proficiency in organizing data and visualizing output via Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Building topic knowledge and industry expertise
  • Developing your own topic knowledge and expertise including deep expertise in relevant subject matter, specialized research, databases, and sources.
  • Understanding research objectives focused on public sector sub-topics such as economic development, central finance and agencies, and proactively suggest most appropriate and efficient research approaches.
  • With guidance, you develop tools, resources, and trainings within the Public Sector topics and contributing to knowledge capture and documentation.

Customer and team orientation
  • Engaging in thought partnership with our consulting teams to understand, scope and deliver accurate, timely and relevant data and information.
  • Working collaboratively with DRS colleagues in an in-office/hybrid environment as well as virtually in a highly international context
  • Coaching junior colleagues and outsourcing partners as well as delivering data quality analysis with them

Working flexibly in in a fast-paced environment
  • Managing at times multiple time sensitive research projects and stakeholders with a high degree of accuracy and organization
  • In addition to being intellectually curious and being able to work in a fast-paced, deadline focused environment, you can identify practical, timely and innovative research approaches.


YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)


  • 2-4+ years relevant working experience, with some specialization in Public Sector sub-topics such as education, economic development, defense and security, and infrastructure, US Federal or state government experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Government, International Relations, or a related field
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent English written and oral communication.

The Data and Research Services (DRS) function is a dynamic and highly visible center of excellence focused on business research and process innovation. We collaborate with our consulting teams to bring advanced research capabilities to support projects and clients. DRS provides specialist research services to consulting teams and our Knowledge Team, taking deep pride in delivering rapid and precise results.
DRS works with both qualitative and quantitative data, conducting research and providing synthesized results from over 100 commercial sources, publicly available data, company and industry research, macro-economic, commodities and trade data.
