Job Description Summary:
Perform a variety of complex technical duties involved in conducting physical, chemical, biological and other research laboratory tests, experiments and determinations to obtain data for research purposes; compile, analyze, document and draw tentative conclusions from experimental results. Confer with principal investigator to review work assignments and develop plans for research experiments; make minor modifications to existing laboratory procedures and techniques to meet the needs of the particular equipment as required. Review laboratory methods manual, scientific journals, abstracts and other literature for information applicable to research experiments.
This position is responsible for supporting clinical research coordinators within the division on recruiting, study visit scheduling and preparation, maintenance of the investigator site file, data entry, and other various tasks.
The Research Assistant collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, research, and hospital staff to assist in the overall clinical study coordination of clinical research. This position supports assigned clinical research studies by pre-screening potential patients, preparing study subject binders and lab kits, entering study data, and maintaining the electronic regulatory binder.
This position will be or become familiar with neuromuscular disease and conducting research according to ICH GCP guidelines.
The position requires an individual with exceptional communication skills and the ability to multi-task to work collegially with members of the neuromuscular research team to ensure research studies are being supported adequately.

Required Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in science or health related field. Experience may substitute for degree on a year for year basis.
Work Experience :
Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite .
Preferred Qualifications
Work Experience :
Prior health care and/or research experience.
Experience with electronic medical records.
Experience in Neurology and/or Neuromuscular research.
Skills

Job Duties
Updates and maintains regulatory binders.
Ensures all study data is entered into sponsor-provided and/or internal KU databases per sponsor requirements, typically within 3 business days following data collection.
Answers and addresses data queries within study databases.
Assists with potential study subject screening and recruitment.
Assists clinical research coordinators in study visit preparation by printing forms and preparing lab kits.
Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor

Compensation Statement:
The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
