The UMKC Institute for Human Development, University Center on Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (IHD) is an applied research and training center for human services designed to exemplify the University’s goals of engaged scholarship and community partnerships. Its functions include interdisciplinary training, applied research, community program development and information dissemination.

Job Description

The University of Missouri - Kansas City (UMKC) Health and Aging Program is seeking a Research Assistant with health-related research and program coordination experience. The Research Assistant will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Manage and respond to project related communications
  • Coordinate training events
  • Facilitate project partner engagement
  • Coordinate demonstration project implementation across multiple sites, including assisting with data collection activities
  • Serve as a liaison between research team and demonstration project site staff
  • Schedule, plan, and facilitate project partner learning collaborative meetings
  • Track and document project-related activities and outcomes
  • Lead efforts to develop and maintain community resource directories
  • Data entry and basic analyses
  • Assist with drafting materials for research papers, reports, and/or presentations
  • Other duties as assigned

The successful candidate will demonstrate relevant training and experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:

  • Outstanding planning, communication & organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and problem-solve
  • Attention to details, independent working and problem solving
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to plan and facilitate small group meetings
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel as needed
  • Knowledgeable about and interest in health promotion
  • Knowledgeable about and interest in developmental disabilities

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

Full Time/Part Time

Full-Time, benefit-eligible, unranked/non-tenure track academic position. Initial contract is 12-months beginning Spring of 2023, then will go to 6-month contracts.

Salary

Up to $21.63 per hour commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
