Job Purpose and Impact
The Research Biotechnologist will apply innovative technology to help drive the development of new products and improved processes for the food, feed and bio-industrial segments across Cargill’s business units. The key responsibility of this role will be to support senior research and development staff to generate and analyze critical experimental data, along with staying current with literature and analytical advancements in the field. This position is based in the Minneapolis, MN Research and Development Center (Plymouth). Key Accountabilities
Assist the metabolic engineering and enzyme discovery teams though the use of high-throughput screening platforms.
Use advanced laboratory methods to establish an understanding of the mechanisms of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) replication, the integration of genes, ribonucleic acid (RNA) functionality and other facets of genetics.
Collaboration with researchers across different scientific backgrounds to achieve project milestones.
Develop, modify and apply software, algorithms, or pipelines to biological data sets with the goal of understanding biological processes, diseases, or disorders.
Stay informed of new laboratory technologies being used in the field.
Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Proven working knowledge of molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, cell biology, biophysics
Minimum of two years of related work experience Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree or PhD in metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, genetics, biochemistry, biochemical engineering, microbiology or related field.
Working knowledge of software applications, and information systems used to collect, store, and analyze scientific data
Knowledge and experience with one or more of the following: Python, Jupyter Notebook, Plotly, and statistical methods for analyzing complex datasets.
Prior experience in the development of microbiologic assays using high throughput platforms.
