Network Security Engineer, Journeyman

RMC is hiring for a Network Security Engineer, Journeyman who will provide support to an RDT&E environment at Patuxent River, MD.  The selected applicant will provide application support to the Network Infrastructure such as Firewalls, Cisco Identity Services, and Proxies.

 The selected applicant will possess:  

  • Strong Networking background with experience with Firewalls, Proxies, Intrusion Detection / Prevention devices, and Cisco Identity Servers
  • 2 years' experience with Juniper boundary devices or a Juniper certification
  • 2 years' experience with Cisco switching and routing or a CCNA certification
  • Experience with monitoring network traffic for malicious network activity utilizing tools such as a SIEM, Wireshark, or IDS / IPS
  • Experience with F5 Networks BigIP and solid understanding of NAT (Network Address Translation) and SNAT (Source Network Address Translation)
  • Experience with managing DoD PKI across network devices
  • Managing health and status of assigned networking devices
  • Experience with DNS experience with understanding of DDoS mitigation practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in RDT&E environments. 

 Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure configuration control procedures are followed for all work activities.
  • Document maintenance, repair and test activities.
  • Perform DISA STIG compliance measures across multiple RDT&E environments.
  • Education Requirement:
  • A Bachelor's Degree and 3-10 years of experience in related infrastructure network engineering and network administration work is required. 

 

Certification Requirement:

  • The selected applicant must have DoD 8570/5239 IAT Level II Certification (Security + CE equivalent, or greater).
  • CCNA certification is desired. 
  • Juniper certification is desired.

 

Clearance Requirement:

  • An active DoD Top Secret clearance is required to start. 
  • Applicant selected may be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

**Salary at RMC is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, a candidate's specific combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific requirements. The current salary range for this position will be $150,000 to $170,000 (annually).
