About the Retail Sales Director Position
Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer, Tim Gittins, the Retail Sales Director will be responsible for driving the growth of our capability by building partnerships with retailers in the UK. This role will require you to use a range of business development skills to engage with prospects, navigate multiple decision makers and negotiate at senior levels.
Through our partnership with Barclays and Lloyds, we have reached a scaled customer base and provide the ability to pair a customer’s transaction behaviour with our retailer offering to enable customers to seamlessly join loyalty programmes directly within the banking journey. We are also deepening our relationship with Barclays and Lloyds through the implementation of a partnership agreement with their merchant acquiring business, to enable the distribution of the Bink capability to major retail brands in the UK, effectively supercharging our sales effort in this space.
What You’ll Be Doing as a Retail Sales Director

Driving and growing a pipeline of prospective merchants, proactively researching to identify key decision makers to engage with the prospect to secure face to face meetings, navigating large organisations and building relationships with multiple decision makers
- Building a deep understanding of merchant priorities to enable the creation of a commercial model/partnership proposal per retailer that demonstrates a compelling, targeted value proposition for the merchant
- Ensuring cross-functional alignment with product management, product delivery and solutions delivery. Act as the voice of the customer within all internal product design and prioritisation forums, to ensure that Bink brings the right product set to the marketplace
- Creating and driving new business through the delivery of sales pitches, presentations and sales proposals. Comfort in dealing with senior level executives, as well as being able to articulate technical detail and complexity to more junior level stakeholders
- Using a variety of styles to persuade and negotiate appropriately to overcome objections to a positive conclusion, and have the appropriate relationship skills to manage dialogue with partners productively and effectively
- Representing Bink at industry events and conferences as appropriate
Requirements for the Retail Sales Director Position
- Demonstrable experience in closing deals in B2B sales, preferably from a loyalty, financial, retail or fintech sector
- Track record of excellence in exceeding sales goals and sales quotas
- Excellent communication skills – comfortable presenting to senior level management and functional stakeholders in equal measure
- Highly collaborative/team-focussed demeanour, generating authentic followership from those that you work with
- Adaptability – stability of performance through uncertainty and pressure
- Natural flair for proactivity and accountability– taking responsibility for making things happen
- Relentless energy for creating deal opportunities, engaging partners in our sales process and closing B2B deals
Nice to Have for the Retail Sales Director Position
- In-depth understanding of payments and loyalty space – with solid understanding of how brands and retailers engage with and consume loyalty products
- Strong experience in retail sector – either gained directly within a retailer environment, or having partnered extensively with retailers
- Experience of key industry verticals with whom Bink partner – grocery, convenience, high street retail, casual dining and fashion/clothing retail
- Strong network in the retail space in the UK market
