Investigates the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and products. Plans and executes applied research. Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories, and may contribute to scientific literature and conferences. May participate in development of patent applications. May coordinate interdepartmental activities and research efforts.ResponsibilitiesUnderstands and works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, evaluating, adapting of complex techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Work is reviewed upon completion and is consistent with departmental objectives. Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise. Adapts style and uses persuasion in delivering messages that relate to the wider firm business. Frequently advises others on complex matters. May be accountable through team for delivery of tactical business targets.QualificationsRequired Skills:A minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, 6 years with a Master's degree, a PhD with 3 years experience, or equivalent experience is typically required for an employee at this level.• Current TS/SCI clearance• Ability to conduct or assist in conducting research in state of art artificial intelligence / machine learning projects including, Image and signal classification using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and other deep learning networks, Neuromorphic computing - Spiking Neural Networks (SNN), Intel Loihi and FPGA instantiations and/or Human-computer interaction, natural language processing, and virtual/augmented reality to assist complex tasking• Demonstrated ability to work in coding environments and deliver prototypes revolving around the use of signal-centric computing technologies.• Ability to code in a variety of integrated development environments and to learn new programming skills as required as well as experience with flexible and fast run-time languages.• Must be able to write and speak about research and development results with a variety of audiences, including academic peers and potential fundersDesired Skills:• Background in/education in neuroscience• Experience managing small teams• Program management experienceGlobal Comp$150,000 - $175,000 This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.Closing StatementRiverside Research Institute is a not-for-profit, technology-oriented defense company, where service to our customers and support of our staff is our overall mission.
