Solipsys, a wholly owned subsidiary of Collins Aerospace/RTX, is an industry leader in the development of integrated C4I Network Centric Defense System solutions for both the Domestic and International DoD.

In this position, you will serve as a technical lead on challenging software development projects such as the Common Aviation Command and Control System (CAC2S).  You will be engaged with exciting and innovative advancements in Multi-Sensor and Information Fusion, Networked Situational Awareness, and Visualization technologies. This position is located in Fulton, MD and does require some travel to customer sites as needed. Relocation assistance, to the Fulton MD area, is provided with this position.

What You Will Do

  • Perform full life cycle systems engineering tasks including system requirements analysis, definition, architecture design, trade studies, integration, verification and validation (IV&V).
  • Serve as Technical Leader of small to medium engineering development teams.
  • Work with a systems engineering discipline subject matter experts for department, solving critical technical problems with innovative solutions.

Qualifications You Must Have 

  • Experience as lead systems engineer on a software development program.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 10 years of relevant experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.  U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with any of the following functions: radar sensor integration, track filtering and track management techniques and algorithms and any of these systems: Link 16 Tactical Data Link (J series messages), Command and Control (C2), Surveillance/Radars, Air Traffic Control, Mission Planning, Missile Systems or Combat/Fire Control systems, Shipboard Combat Systems such as Aegis and SSDS Mk II.
  • Understand and apply commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the systems engineering field (ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288, Mil-Std-499B).
  • Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS, Sparx systems Enterprise Architect and Cameo.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) techniques and applying them as a Cost Account Manager (CAM).
  • Active security clearance.

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
