Safety Engineering Co-op

Overview

The Safety Engineering Co-op will participate as a member of the safety department with primary responsibility being managing the factory safety committees and various safety department projects.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

Perform job safety analysis of workstations.
Perform stop-time measurements on punch and break presses.
Review safety department programs.
Perform noise monitoring.
Perform routine ladder, chain and slings, and fall protection harness and lanyard inspections.
Participate and/or observe safety training sessions.
Participate in facility inspections performed by fire alarm companies, local fire inspectors, and insurance carrier inspectors, and other duties as assigned.
Regular and reliable attendance in the office is required.
This position requires work to be performed on-site at our corporate office and does not provide for working from home offices.

Qualifications

Full Time student currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in safety, industrial engineering or similarly related field required.
Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
Above average written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to be assertive and diplomatic when interacting with co-workers and factory team members.
Positive attitude, upbeat, team player and supportive of the direction and policies of the company.
Ability to think ahead, set daily and weekly goals and create action plans to achieve results.
Ability to multitask and follow up on all open issues in a fast-paced environment.

The duration of this co-op is May to December, Monday through Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm.
