Risk and Policy Strategist

SafetyKit builds AI agents that protect platforms, marketplaces, and payments networks.

Our agents make millions of decisions per day, and it's our job to make sure those decisions are correct and consistent.

Doing that requires us to zoom in and out between specific examples, technical model details, and major brand and commercial considerations for our customers, all day every day. Our customers turn to us for guidance, standardization, and someone to interpret the practical implications of every decision.

SafetyKit risk and policy analysts work directly with our engineering teams, customers, and founding team to figure out what the right call is over hundreds of different policy areas and risk typologies. It requires careful thinking, clear communication, strong technical interest, and patience.

The ideal candidate is a great critical reader, decisive, and even-keeled enough to engage with sensitive policy areas (e.g. CSAM, gore, hate speech).

We welcome candidates from all educational backgrounds, including new-grads and those without experience/education in risk and policy.

Responsibilities

  • Research and design new content policies. In a day, you might jump between researching militant groups in Ethiopia, magnet choking hazard regulation, and fraudulent nonprofits.

  • Annotate large amounts of data (websites, products, merchants, and more) for model training, quality assurance, and policy research

  • Identify patterns, edge-cases and gaps in policy coverage

  • Build relationships with risk and policy teams (our customers!), helping them improve their existing policies and decide on edge cases

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve AI model understanding of complex policy requirements

  • Stay current on emerging trust and safety challenges and regulatory developments

About you

  • You are sharp and thoughtful

  • You want to spend a good chunk of your workday reading, writing, and thinking

  • People have asked you to read over their writing

  • You’re excited to learn about content moderation, policy-writing, and payments, or already have strong experience.

  • You have some experience with data analysis or software engineering
