What you’ll be doing:
As health care increasingly demands high levels of performance in clinical quality, SCP continues to focus on programs that empower high quality and excellent patient outcomes, while also supporting value-based models of care. SCP’s breadth and scope of clinical services requires leadership, subject matter expertise, vision, and scalable systems designed to support standard quality processes. Quality measurements and value-based models are expected to penetrate nearly all lines of clinical service and become increasingly mandatory, which will pose both risk and opportunity from clinical, operational, and economic standpoints.
Reporting directly to the EVP, Clinical Quality Officer, this position is accountable for providing subject matter expertise, data, analysis and recommendations, and for coordinating the implementation of quality programs in new and emerging lines of service, including the quality aspects of value-based models of care. This role will facilitate successful approaches for clinicians and SCP Departments, and will foster the development of necessary infrastructure, processes, feedback, and reporting.
The role will work collaboratively with current hospital-based quality processes, augment or align those processes with established and emerging value-based demands, and establish new processes as required in new lines of service.
- Exemplifies the strategic vision for the department and helps inspire the team to execute effectively.
- Drive the design, analysis, alignment and oversight of phase-appropriate clinical quality management policies and procedures
- Oversee the development and implementation of metrics that support and drive clinical quality and performance, and drive success in value-based models of care
- Collaborate with senior clinical leaders to oversee and advise quality performance for SCP operating teams
- Ensure high-level performance
- Facilitate data accuracy
- Advise and deliver clinician and operating team feedback and performance data
- Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship across all levels of the organization to assure that clinical quality strategies are known and implemented.
- Provide executive level reporting related to participation and performance in SCP quality and value-based programs, including whether (or not) SCP is meeting targets, reducing variation, trending positively, and delivering value.
- Recommend strategies for maintaining excellent results, and for improving suboptimal results
- Provide meaningful and relevant data to clinical and operational teams to drive performance.
- Serve as an internal educator to train coders on new metrics, audits, etc.
- Attend conferences and seminars as a participant, company ambassador and/or presenter.
- Interface with external stakeholders to enhance SCP’s industry presence and support growth
- Work directly with SCP’s value-based care and managed care teams to cultivate increased levels of engagement with health plans (and employers) in value-based models of care.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
- Promote a culture of quality and value-based performance in the organization.
- Lead the design, implementation, execution, and monitoring of the quality component of value-based services, including the systems and processes required for best-in-class performance.
- Support the development of a quality plan for the organization that spans all lines of service
- Work directly with clinical representatives from key clients and health systems in support of quality and patient safety.
- Review, advise, and implement new technological tools and processes that support optimal performance
- Present results of improvement efforts and ongoing performance measures to senior management. Research and incorporate best practices into operations.
- Work in collaboration with other departments such as documentation, information technology, and risk management to optimize clinical business intelligence data and effective clinician feedback processes.
- Provide input for SCP’s strategic and tactical consideration related to participation with value-based plans.
What we are looking for:
- 8+ years of clinical experience.
- 5+ years of experience with hospital-based and outpatient clinical quality measures, strategies, and reporting.
- 5+ years of leadership level experience within a hospital, health plan, or physician practice.
- Experience in alternative models of care, including value-based models, desirable.
- BSN degree required.
- MSN degree preferred.
- Advanced process optimization, problem solving, strategic and analytic skills.
- Excellent skills in data analytics and reporting.
- Adept at working with cross-functional teams, organizing, and managing multiple priorities and projects.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with leaders, teams, and individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to execute clinical and business objectives in a matrix reporting environment.
- Ability to work independently; self-motivated to achieve objectives.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to build mutual trust and credibility at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to perform data analysis using insight generation techniques.
- Ability to assess multiple models, determine recommendations, communicate accordingly, and foster execution over a multi-year period.
- Must be able to present information in multiple types of settings from formal oral presentations, webinars, conference calls, etc., as needed to inform or educate individuals on operational and clinical performance.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, virtual communication platforms, and data warehouse/large data analysis.
