The Senior Azure SQL Database Administrator will be responsible for the management of production and non-production Azure SQL databases at Bread Financial. Providing 24 x 7 maintenance and support of all Azure database platforms. Manage data definition, controls and repositories. Support release/code deployment activities and responsible for physical database design.

Essential Job Functions
Database Design, Maintenance and support:

Troubleshooting Azure SQL databases related issues real-time
-
Monitoring and maintaining database storage, database health, performance, sustainability and security
-
Performing scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities
-
Identify and setup alerts and logging in Azure
-
Automating the SQL processes using Azure automation account or Azure Data Factory pipelines
-
Physical database design, database changes, enforcement of data integrity, and security management

Analyzing SQL query plans, suggest and implement solutions to support developers in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

Conducting Performance tuning and optimization (Stored procedures, Views, Functions, Queries, database) - In-depth SQL database advanced performance tuning experience – Stored Procedures, Views, Functions; skilled in analyzing and assessing query execution plans and DMVs; expertise in assessing and implementing indexes and partitioning;

Tuning ETL Jobs - Azure Data Factory pipeline

Refine and automate security lockdown processes using T-SQL and PowerShell

Provide 24x7 support as necessary

Manage and support all PCI, FDIC, SOX, and In-house Audits. Understand and implement best practices for ongoing audits
Leadership and oversight: Leads, guides, and participates in the feasibility studies for the installation of new software & physical database design. Makes recommendations on appropriate software tools and environments to improve service, reliability, and/or costs. Drives metrics to measure and ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases run at peak performance as well as performs software product evaluation, including planning, installation, testing, and technical support for the applications. Reviews changes to ensure risks are minimized to the environment and manages the Change Control process for supported databases.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: Normal office environment. Scheduled as required to provide primary or secondary 24 hour a day, 7 day a week emergency on-call support as requested. Provide and support database management systems in an environment requiring availability of 99.9%. Work weekends and/or evenings as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Five or more years with relevant database management systems. Examples include (but are not limited to): Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, etc
Preferred Experience

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

Six or more years with experience with relevant database management systems. Examples include (but are not limited to): Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, etc

Strong knowledge of query languages, T-SQL and query tuning

Azure Data Factory development
Typical Starting Range:
$106,200.00 - $192,400.00
Full Salary Range for position:
California:$122,000.00 - $240,600.00
Colorado:$106,200.00 - $202,000.00
New York:$116,800.00 - $240,600.00
Washington:$111,400.00 - $221,100.00
The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills.
Bread Financial offers medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and other voluntary benefits (including basic and optional life insurance, supplemental medical plans, and short and long-term disability) to eligible associates (regular full-time associates scheduled to work 30 hours per week or more) and their spouses/domestic partners, and child(ren) under the age of 26. New associate elected coverage begins on date of hire (with the exception of disability coverage which has a 6-month waiting period). Six weeks of 100% paid parental leave for eligible parents is available after a 180-day waiting period. Hired associates can immediately enroll in Bread Financial’s 401(k) plan.
All associates receive 11 paid holidays. Associates have discretion in managing their time away from work through the Flexible Time Off (FTO) program and may need to notify and receive approval from their manager prior to taking the time off. Associates receive 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safety Time per calendar year at the beginning of each year and is prorated in the associate’s first year of employment.
Hired associates will be able to elect to purchase company stock during offering periods in June and December. You will be eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance.
