Senior Cable Assembler

General Summary

Performs electronic and mechanical assembly of cables, cable harnesses, and complex engineering cable designs from schematics and wiring diagrams. Will also perform assembly of electronic and mechanical components, parts, and modules in complex assemblies, sub-assemblies, and systems. Assists engineering with design of prototypes, red-line prototype prints, and introduction of new products into production. Provides inputs to engineering in design for manufacturability. Responsible for monitoring inventory levels of wire, cable, components, and supplies and submitting requisitions to maintain appropriate levels of material.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Serves as Senior Cable Assembler for the cable assembly product line and OFF-LINE cable assembly operations.
• Continuously monitors and maintains shop floor inventory, use and procurement of all wire, cable, heat shrink and areas consumables.
• Supports the development and implementation of new or improved manufacturing/assembly processes.
• Ensures that final assemblies conform to engineering specifications and quality standards, and that assembly methods and sequence of operations follow approved manufacturing processes and assembly protocols
• Prepares and maintains assembly documentation such as product serialization logs, traceability records and performance metrics for review by the quality control/inspection team. Collaborates with Quality Assurance in the labeling of all products with required serialization and traceability markings and other forms of product identification.
• Actively participates in team activities and the accomplishment of team goals.
• Performs complex assembly of prototype models of electronic/electro-mechanical wire assemblies, sub-assemblies and systems and coordinates with development and/or manufacturing engineering on technical specifications for prototype or ?specials? assembly.
• Coordinates with the procurement organization to ensure that specialized parts, components, and materials acquired through subcontractors conform to technical specifications, quality standards and master project schedules.
