United States (Remote)
This is a remote role for the Eastern timezones of the US, Canada and South America.
Our Community
We were born from Open Source and it’s in our founding and company DNA. Our job in developer advocacy is just that - to advocate for this community, and nurture the people within it. We operate in a “Big Tent” environment, so our community overlaps heavily with many other related open source communities, such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Kubernetes.
When they succeed, Grafana does as well. We believe that a big, vibrant, participatory community is how the most innovation happens, and how we grow.
What we are looking for:
Our ideal candidate would be an experienced open source community leader who understands the social landscape and parts of the technical landscape. We're looking for someone who is excited about teaching, coaching, and growing people - and who can help motivate the wider community to contribute and give back.
If this sounds like you and you stay on top of what's happening in Grafana, observability, telemetry, or distributed systems, we should talk. We strongly encourage under-represented groups to apply.
As a Community manager, you are a community member first, and will help connect developers, SREs, administrators who are building things with Grafana. That starts with things like helping run a champions program, improve our forums, help with swag and other facets, but the big picture is about owning the process of how we get more people involved and contributing. You will participate in events, conferences, meetups, and possibly open source governance as well. A big plus for us is if you already participate meaningfully (in any capacity) in open source communities such as Kubernetes, Prometheus, CNCF, or OpenTelemetry.
We work in the R&D part of the organization, alongside product managers and engineers. The aim of the role is to grow and foster communities of users building cool stuff.
Reporting to the Director of Developer Advocacy, you'll work with an all-remote team of advocates and community support engineers. This blog post describes a lot of what you will be working on..
The types of things you will be doing include:
Success in this role is measured by community growth and engagement. In a few months, you’ll have the shape of our community and other allied communities. A few months later, you will have worked on several programs in front of our community, and you will be a key point of contact for members.
In the United States, the Base (OTE for commission positions) compensation range for this role is $152,000 - $183,000. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed in the interview process. Benefits include equity, bonus (if applicable) and other benefits listed here.
