Senior Full Stack Developer

We are a group of ~20 in 3 countries looking to disrupt the way products are engineered and made and have an existing successful SaaS application. As we grow, we need to improve backend data designs, and bring on new features online, while keeping the simplicity that makes our API and DB easy to extend and reuse.

That means keeping our modules and service behaviors clear and simple and building just enough to solve real problems, without going into over-engineering.

What you will do:

• Lead the day to day development process, an eye towards balancing ‘right enough’ and ‘right on time’
• Manage nuts and bolts of code review, system quality, DB design, API design, etc
• Peer review and coordinate between DevOps, Design/UI and PM’s
• Make sure designs/behaviors are converted into final engineering tickets and those tickets are done correctly
• Taking ownership of coding/designing hard parts while training/coordinating JR and mid level folks to work on new features and do general updates

Must Have:

• Experience leading small to medium teams (2-10 people)
• Active experience with SaaS, DB/API, backend data processing and management
• Senior (5+ years) in Production Python/Server/SaaS + JS (react) experience
• Intuitive grasp of where the best ‘solutions’ lie. It can be a DB fix, an algorithm update or just changing end user workflow to avoid a bad use case
• Ability to trust their domain/topic experts, without letting them cause scope creep
• 5+ years working with open-source relational database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• Experience using modern development tools such as version control (git)
• Strong technical writing skills and ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, analytical concepts to a range of client and internal audiences
• Strong attention to detail and action-oriented attitude
• Team player with strong collaborative skills
• Good organizational skills, self-starter

Nice to Have:

• AWS experience
• A natural level of curiosity about 3D printing, manufacturing, the industry
• Any combination of 3D printing, robotics, 3D modeling or CAD experience
• Start-up or similar experience, where you can see an impact of good decisions on the daily
• Desire for a to grow into a VP of Engineering role over the coming years
