THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Manager, Health & Safety and this role is responsible for the implementation, verification, and the continuous improvement of the HSE management system. The Senior Health and Safety Coordinator leads the identification of workplace hazards and risk assessment, incident investigations and communication of lessons learned, health and safety performance reviews and contractor safety management within Drilling, Completions and Construction.
The primary location will be Calgary, Alberta but this position will be required to support the field in the Fort St John area and be prepared to travel 25% of the time to support H&S activities in the region.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:
Provide leadership, coaching and training for the implementation and improvement of HSE systems and procedures
Support the strategic implementation of HSE systems, Unconventional Technical Standards and procedures
Develop and build commitment and awareness towards HSSE strategies, business plans, programs, and practices
Perform verification activities and develop programs designed to meet local regulatory requirements and internal governance
Lead HSE training requirements, delivery of HSE MS internal training and optimization of learning strategies for a diverse workforce
Monitor safety performance, analyze trends, and support the development of corrective action plans to improve performance to meet and exceed goals
Lead incident investigations to ensure all corrective actions are developed jointly with the frontline leadership team and tracked through to conclusion
Implement the Contractor Management Framework and ensure the HSSE requirements are evaluated and verified
WHAT YOU BRING:
Post-secondary education in a related field
A professional Health & Safety designation such as Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) would be considered an asset
7 - 10 years of HSE experience, with experience in the Unconventional oil and gas industry and contractor safety management
Previous experience in drilling and completions and leading complex investigations
Strong technical and people leadership skills
