Senior Manager, Security Operations Center

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, International Relations, Engineering, or other related fields
  • 7+ years or experience leading team of Security professionals in a Security Operations Center environment. Deep understanding of Security Operations Center tasks and responsibilities
  • 5+ years of experience with implementation of risk and security protocols specifically in large-scale, mission critical environments

We are seeking an influential leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You seek to dive deep into details in a Security Operations Center environment. You are a technical and detail-oriented leader who can build and grow organizations and other leaders. You have a track record of delivering high quality results and best-in-class solutions in a fast-moving environment. We need someone who’s comfortable building teams, developing staff, and leading by example. Our services operate at large scale and on critical workloads, so a passion and discipline for operational excellence is key.

We have a team culture that encourages innovation and we expect team members and management alike to take high degree of ownership for their program vision and execution of ideas. You will work directly with AWS service teams, infrastructure and administrative teams to identify opportunities to improve Amazon's security posture. You will define standards, drive process improvements and work with service owners to develop innovative solutions to complex technical challenges. You can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivery. You are proactive in removing roadblocks, and can handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. You will be a positive influencer across diverse teams, be able to effectively rally support for your initiatives and be able to help teams create simple solutions to meet your program goals. You are able to handle business escalations with a data-driven approach to build trust with engineers and program owners.

Key job responsibilities
  • Lead a team of Operations Managers, Program Managers, and Security Analysts operating in AWS Security Operations Center
  • Maintain a prioritized roadmap to address gaps and improve practices.
  • Drive effective teamwork, communication, collaboration and commitment across multiple groups as part of the organization’s security effort.
  • Network with other leaders across the network to solicit feedback and share process improvements focused on raising the security bar
  • Sets clear goals and expectations with the team. Measures performance, provides feedback, and mentor & develop the leaders

  • Familiarity with compliance requirements related to access control systems and facilities
  • Familiarity with data center infrastructure and operations
  • Demonstrate innovative approaches to solving security needs
  • Familiarity with Fortune 100 security best practices
  • Have experience generating documentation and reports to describe service and program impact/effectiveness and consistency
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $126,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $236,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
