Senior Optoelectronics Engineer

As a Senior Optoelectronics Engineer, the candidate will play a critical role in the development of advanced optoelectronic devices. The candidate will work closely with a team of engineers and physicists to conceive, model, design, develop, and characterize prototype light-emitting devices, optical detectors, electronic devices, photon integrated chips, and acoustic/optical/electrical modulators and manipulators. The candidate is also expected to have a very strong semiconductor physics background and to have experience with both modeling and using optoelectronics devices.

Required Qualifications:

• An advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in electrical engineering, applied physics, physics, optical engineering, materials science engineering, or related discipline is required.
• Demonstrated expertise in optoelectronic devices (modeling, simulation, and/or implementation and testing) is required.
• Strong background in semiconductor device physics, along with the ability to capture, understand, and model device behavior, is required.
• Strong competency in a computing environment such MATLAB, Python, Mathematica, or similar is required.
• The individual must be highly self-motivated and must thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Support business development, write proposals, white papers, and technical documents.
• Deliver technical presentations to internal and external customers.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to brief non-technical audiences, is required.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with commercial or customized simulation and computation software is highly desired.
• Experience using semiconductor and/or low-dimensional materials.
• Fabrication or cleanroom experience.
• Experience performing laboratory experiments and evaluating fieldable prototypes.
• Five years of professional experience working with optoelectronic systems.
