Senior Systems Engineer, Quality Assurance

Our ideal candidate for the Wireless Systems QA Engineer position is a hands-on, self-driven engineer with a good understanding of system level performance metrics and how they connect to user experience, a drive to deliver high quality HW and SW products, an aptitude for triaging complex systems and working knowledge of wireless technology from PHY/MAC layer perspective. You will have a strong motivation to qualify cutting-edge wireless products, and align with the company’s mission to shrink the digital divide.

Job Responsibilities:

• Design and develop system test plans, implement test scripts for wireless systems and analyze results
• Perform day-to-day triaging of regressions, identify failure conditions across software revisions and hardware platforms to box the problem
• Critically analyze failures, independently root cause the issues, collect the necessary information regarding a problem before engaging systems or software engineers.
• Work closely with systems engineers to characterize system performance, and qualify enhancements
• Understand scope of unit testing performed by developers, and use unit tests in conjunction with system tests in boxing the problem
• Support development and expansion of continuous test regression pipelines.
• Review performance metric trends from regressions, identify issues and areas of improvement
• Work with the internal infrastructure / automation tools team to expose relevant metrics to enable traceability of the release progress in an automated fashion
• Support timely SW and HW product release process, interfacing closely with systems engineers, software engineers and program managers

Required Skills & Experience:

• B.S. degree in engineering, math, physics or a similar discipline
• 5+ years of experience in wireless system/device performance validation with PHY or MAC focus
• Experience in wireless device/system verification
• Ability to learn complex systems quickly and not being afraid to face new challenges
• Strong triage and analysis skills to diagnose and resolve product issues by designing targeted tests to isolate root-cause
• Organized, methodical and has the discipline to execute on daily/high-cadence deliverables
• Excellent analytical skills and a go-getter attitude
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Skills:

• Working experience with OFDM wireless system development and validation preferably with LTE/5G-NR, IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax/ad/ay
• Experience with TCP/UDP traffic generation tools, traffic testing and protocol level debug
• Working experience with Linux systems, GIT, GitLab, and Jira
• Understanding of Database (MongoDB) & HTML
