Minimum qualifications

• 4+ Years Experience building and maintaining systems leveraging complex modelling and data at scale

• Thrived in backend engineering positions and delivered user experience at scale

• The ability to bring leading industry techniques and technologies to the table

• A strong understanding of distributed systems and how architectural decisions affect performance and maintainability

• Excelled in cross-functional teams, working fluidly with Product Managers, Data Scientists, Mobile Engineers, and other highly skilled specialists

• A passionate focus on quality, writing testable code that performs and scales

About the job

We're looking for an amazing Backend Engineer to join Hopper's new and quickly growing Ground Transportation team! Our team is building a new category of travel at Hopper so there's a lot of opportunities to have an out-sized impact on the company.

In this role, you’ll be working on integrations, infrastructure, and core feature work to give our customers the best rental car booking experience on the planet.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate robust and performant infrastructure that supports millions of bookings per year
• Solve complex technical and software architecture problems
• Ship your first code in days, iterating on features in an agile manner
• Leverage and contribute to a rich microservice architecture system
• Execute on big opportunities, helping Hopper rise to the top of the travel industry
• Collaborate with a diverse group of people, giving and receiving feedback for growth
• Thoughtfully assist with the evolution and automation of our ops processes, participating in the on-call rotation for Ground owned services
