SGS Alaska Division has been the leading full-service environmental laboratory in Alaska for over 50 years. You will be a part of a team that understands the importance of employing qualified, enthusiastic, resourceful people. SGS Anchorage is a full service, ISO accredited laboratory analyzing a variety of matrices for environmental pollutants. You will help provide local service to Alaskan clients that report to government regulatory agencies and private individuals.
You will have the opportunities to advance your knowledge by working in the only full-service environmental lab in Alaska. You will be trained in one or several departments throughout the laboratory. This position will build on your science education, and through hard work, will advance your skill set by gaining non-academic laboratory experience.
After your extensive onboarding training you will be placed in one or several of the following departments. In the Waters Department, you will work on bench chemistry methods, including colorimetric, gravimetric and potentiometric techniques. In the Metals digestions department, you will work with strong acids using HotBlock and AutoBlock techniques. In the Organic Extractions department, you will work with Solid Phase, Liq/Liq and Horn Sonication techniques. Finally, in the Sample Control department, you will receive samples and log them into our LIMS following the CoC. You will prepare sample kits and transfer samples throughout the whole laboratory. Beyond these departments there are potential roles in VOA prep, TCLP and WeighRoom.
As the ideal candidate you would use your scientific knowledge from your BA/BS and your strong work ethic from your Service and Retail positions in order to help serve our environmental clients in Alaska. You would be expected to work overtime when workload requires.
