Shearer's is a leading contract manufacturer and private label supplier in the snack industry in North America. Senior Manager, Corporate Tax

This position follows a hybrid work schedule, where you will work remotely for three weeks each month and be required to work in the office for one week each month.  

Job Summary:
The Senior Manager, Corporate Tax, is responsible for managing the company’s corporate tax functions, including tax compliance, planning, and strategy. This role involves overseeing tax reporting and compliance within an organization, identifying opportunities for tax savings, and ensuring adherence to all applicable tax laws and regulations.

Your Seat at the Table: 

        1.   Tax Compliance:
            • Oversee the preparation of federal, state, local, and Canadian tax returns.
            • Ensure compliance with all tax laws and regulations.
            • Manage relationships with tax authorities and handle audits and inquiries.

        2.   Tax Planning and Strategy:
            • Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
            • Provide tax advice on business transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and other strategic 
            • Identify and pursue opportunities for tax credits, incentives, and savings.
            • Develop and report cash tax forecasts

        3.   Tax Reporting:
            • Oversee the preparation of tax provisions and financial statement disclosures in accordance with ASC 740.
            • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all tax-related matters.
            • Coordinate with the accounting department to integrate tax reporting with financial reporting.

        4.  Risk Management:
            •Identify and assess tax risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
            •Implement and maintain effective internal controls related to tax processes.
            •Stay current with changes in tax legislation and assess the impact on the company.

        5.   Leadership and Team Management:
            •Lead and mentor a professional staff.
            •Provide training and development opportunities for team members.
            •Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
            •Manage relationships with external tax professionals.
            •Contribute and add value in tax-adjacent fields for career development and growth

        6. Collaboration and Communication:
            •Work closely with finance, legal, and other departments to ensure tax considerations are integrated into business decisions.
            •Communicate complex tax issues to senior management and other stakeholders.
            •Manage relationships with external tax advisors and consultants.

What You Bring to the Table: 

        •       Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or JD preferred).
        •       CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
        •       Minimum of 6 years of corporate tax experience; can include Big 4 public accounting experience.
        •       Extensive knowledge of federal, state, local, and Canadian tax laws and regulations.
        •       Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
        •       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
        •       Proven ability to lead and develop a team.
        •       Proficiency in tax software and financial systems.
        •       Interest in developing a career in tax-adjacent fields for career development and growth
