About the role: At Signal, our Legal Department acts as a pivotal shared service, supporting a wide array of business functions with a strong focus on shipping and technology. As a Senior Legal Associate, you will be a legal “passpartout”—navigating diverse legal landscapes while working on cutting-edge projects that touch every corner of our business.

What you will do in this role:

• Contract review and drafting: Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of contracts, including vendor agreements, service agreements, and partnership contracts, ensuring compliance with local and international laws as well as company policies.
• Legal research: Conduct in-depth legal research on shipping regulations, technology laws, and other industry-specific legal matters to support the legal team in delivering accurate advice and guidance.
• KYC and compliance management: Assist in the development and implementation of KYC and other compliance policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, particularly within the shipping and technology sectors.
• Support in litigation matters: Provide support in litigation and dispute resolution processes, including gathering documentation, preparing legal briefs, and coordinating with external legal counsels when necessary.
• Contract management: Maintain and organize contract databases, tracking key milestones, deadlines, and renewal dates to ensure efficient contract management.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with various departments to provide legal guidance and support for business initiatives and projects, managing a diverse portfolio of legal matters.

• Mentorship: Mentor and assist junior team members, fostering their growth and development within the legal department

What you bring to the team:

• Bachelor's degree in Law or a related field
• Master's degree or further specialization in Shipping, Technology, Intellectual Property or Business
• 5+ years of experience in a legal role, ideally within a corporate legal department, law firm, or in-house counsel setting
• Familiarity with shipping regulations, international trade laws, and/or technology-related legal matters is advantageous
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex legal issues, conduct thorough research, and provide practical solutions
• Commitment to staying updated with legal developments through continuous education, seminars, or professional development courses related to shipping, technology, or specific legal domains relevant to the company's operations
• Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken
• Technically proficient and able to quickly adapt to new tools, systems, and processes
• Problem-solving, methodical, detail-oriented mindset
• Highly principled and ethical
• Capable of dealing effectively with a high volume of tasks under tight deadlines
• Team-player
