Job Status: Part-Time

JOB PURPOSE
The Social Media Content Creator will be working in a collaborative work environment and report directly to the Director of Communications and Corporate Partnerships. The Social Media Content Creator will be creating content for LEAP social media accounts to increase visibility and engagement for the organization through producing content that is relevant to the youth and resonates with them. All content will be focused toward youth empowerment, especially for NYC’s most vulnerable youth populations inclusive of: Black and Brown youth, girls, youth who identify as LGBTQIA, non-binary and youth from communities of color. The Social Media Content Creator will have great exposure to aspects of fund development and communications and must be committed to the goals of the organization with a vested interest in the arts and creative youth development. The Social Media Content Creator will help leverage our social media platforms to achieve communication initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Creating original video content for LEAP Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter
  • Research trending challenges and upcoming social media platforms to post on
  • Work on editing Reels and videos for Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter
  • Promote upcoming events and auditions on LEAP accounts
  • Attend weekly remote social media content creation strategy meetings
  • Track and report out on social media engagement metrics weekly across all social media platforms

SOCIAL MEDIA RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and follow a social media calendar and schedule to ensure that events, news, and programmatic updates are optimally posted, including best time of day for the platform as indicated by research.
  • Produce well branded presentations for posting across our social media platforms
  • Create and implement a social media marketing strategy that includes all major social media platforms as appropriate
  • Grow number of social media followers and engagement via creative, entertaining, compelling and informative posts
  • Write, edit, proofread and revise social media content
  • Support department with execution of other key projects and strategies including event-related social media support inclusive of live IGTV reels

JOB EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1-2 years of social media content creation for fundraising, marketing, and special events
  • Experience producing materials for digital communications, social media
  • Intermediate proficiency in Trello, Adobe Suite, Photoshop (or other comparable app), Canva, Microsoft Office, reel production apps, Constant Contact a plus
  • Committed to youth empowerment work and familiarity with social justice issues like racial and gender equality
  • Knowledge of a broad range of youth-related local and global human rights issues with a commitment to equity and inclusion respecting differences of race, ethnicity, age, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, ability, and socioeconomic circumstance
  • Inspired by peacebuilding, and commitment to building an equitable world based on compassion and justice through mobilizing and making visible LEAP’s commitment to providing equity and access to the arts for youth underserved in the arts
  • Highly collaborative, flexible, responsive, and positive

CORE COMPETENCIES
  • Motivated self-starter with demonstrated good judgment, critical thinking, flexibility, resourcefulness, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, along with a demonstrated ability to compose and edit effective, thoughtful, and strategic communications across a variety of platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, while maintaining a firm grasp on individual project details and deadlines.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to conduct research, planning, and strategy development relevant to content creation
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Organized with strong attention to details
  • Self-motivated, highly efficient, and able to problem solve
  • Proactive, hands-on approach, as well as a professional work ethic
  • Strong Experience using social media: Twitter, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse student population
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and eagerness to learn
  • Able to commit to an 8-hour work week

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary: $35 an hour
Schedule: Average 8hrs per week
Benefits: This position qualifies for accrual of NY Paid Safe & Sick Leave
