Social Service Support Specialist (SSSS) to join our team. The Opportunity:
We are searching for a proactive and organized professional to join DCYF as a Social Service Support Specialist in our
Spokane North location. In this role, you will support Social Service Specialist 3’s in providing services to children and families by providing in-home and out-of-home paraprofessional services. You will manage supervised visits, transport children to visits and appointments, and assist the Social Service Specialist team in monitoring services, gathering records, and documenting information in state computer systems.
Some of what you will get to do:-
Arrange and supervise visits between parents and children in out-of-home placement including transportation of children to and from visits if necessary.

Assist in the monitoring of parental progress of case plans and/or changes in family functioning.

Supervise children in settings such as the office, hotel, or community.\

Provide transportation, child care assistance or other household supports on a time-limited, goal-oriented basis as directed by the assigned Social Worker.

Assist families in accessing needed and appropriate services and delivering concrete goods as needed.

Act as a role model regarding social skill development.

Conduct home visits, monitor for safety and wellbeing, and report any concerns to the assigned social service specialist.

Prepare reports and records including but not limited to summaries of support activities and supervised visits.

Document in child welfare computer system.
What we are looking for (Required Qualifications):
A High School Diploma or GED
AND
One year of paid/unpaid experience in one of the following: caring for children, social care, supervised volunteer experience in youth/child-oriented organizations, counseling youth, education, or home visitations.
NOTE: Two years of social service education from an accredited post-high school program may substitute for experience.
NOTE: Possession of a valid driver’s license and valid automobile insurance is required.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

Associate’s Degree and one year of experience in one of the following: caring for children, social care, supervised volunteer experience in youth/child-oriented organizations, counseling youth, education, and home visitations.

Keyboarding/typing skills.

Previous demonstrated knowledge of and ability to work with persons of diverse cultural backgrounds.

Previous demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Previous demonstrated experience using FamLink.
-
Previous demonstrated work experience preparing records.
