Software and System Engineer II

This role has been designated as ‘Edge’, which means you will primarily work outside of an HPE office.

Designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for software enhancements and new products. Develops software including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases and Internet-related tools. Determines hardware compatibility and/or influences hardware design.

In a typical day as a Software and System Engineer II, you would...

• Analyze design and determine coding, programming, and integration activities required to achieve project objectives and follow established guidelines and schedules

• Executes and writes portions of testing plans, and documentation for assigned portion of applications

• Identifies and debugs issues with code and suggests changes or improvements.

• Participates as a member of project team of other software systems engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for assigned systems portion or subsystem.

• Designing scripts or software running on multiple platform types.

• Collaborates and communicates with internal and outsourced development partners regarding software systems design status, project progress, and issue resolution.

Education and Experience Required:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.

• Typically 2-4 years experience.

• Proficient (or medium level) in Perl or Python programming languages or any other scripting langueages.

• Using software systems design tools and languages.

• Software systems testing methodology, including execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language. Ability to effectively communicate design proposals and negotiate options.

About you:

• Knowledge of one or more of the following languages such: Java, C, C++, C#, etc

• Ability to apply analytical and problem solving skills.

• Experience with hardware and code troubleshooting

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Experience in designing software systems for multiple platform types

• Familiarity with firmware updates is a plus

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

• Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies is a plus.
