Job Description:
At CoBank, our Software Automation Architect leads the program to design and develop strategies that will foster process automation efforts. Provides technical direction regarding architecture, tools and approaches. Identifies and designs appropriate technical solutions to complex automation efforts. Provides leadership to analysts, departmental stakeholders, technical developers and contractors in the design and implementation integrated, efficient, cost-effective, scalable solutions. Assures technical quality assurance. Responsible for defining standards around automation code development, audit controls and reporting metrics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Leads the technical evolution of the Robotics Process Automation (RPA) program
-
Leads the analysis of the current RPA program to detect deficiencies and recommends solutions.

Responsible to develop, maintain and trains both citizen developers and IT developers on automation coding standards for the RPA program and other technologies.

Performs code reviews for RPA automations to ensure standards are being upheld.

Understands, advocates for and supports the enterprise's IT strategies ensuring that the IT strategies are applied to automation efforts developed by business departments and IT.

Leads analysis of the automation technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprise automation architecture.

Leads and facilitates the creation of governing principles to guide decision making around automation efforts.
-
Leads the analysis of the technical needs for planned automation efforts to determine which tools, technologies, and standards are the most suitable.

Understands the landscape of the available automation solutions across CoBank
-
Designs, codes, and debugs new application software programs and/or make enhancements to existing automations.

Coach and Mentor software engineers, developers, and other team members.

Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and CI/CD pipelines and tools.
-
Strong experience with version management tools like Git.
-
Good understanding of automation strategies such as APIs, batch processing/ETL, UI automation.

Strong experience with databases and SQL
-
Proficiency in one or more computing languages including scripting languages, such as PowerShell, Ansible, or Terraform.

Strong knowledge of holistic enterprise architecture, business reengineering principles and processes, and information management best practices.

Proven ability to balance the long- and short-term implications of decisions, and demonstrated effectiveness in driving toward short and long-term goals and strategies.

Ability to craft strategic roadmaps taking broad technology concepts and applying them to business strategy and requirements over a 3-5 year time horizon.

Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and build and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management, teams, staff and internal customers across the bank.

Experience leveraging test automation frameworks and tools

Experience with Agile work management tools like DevOps or Jira

Working knowledge of cloud-based solutions similar to AWS.

Assists with special projects, and performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, systems analysis or a related field of study, or equivalent experience.
-
Eight (8) years of relevant experience in at least two IT disciplines (such as technical architecture, application development, middleware, information analysis, database management or operations) in a multi-tier environment or five (5) years of experience in business analysis or business strategic planning.

Strong business acumen and leadership skills, with the ability to provide high-level guidance, expertise and consultation.

Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, with the proven ability to effectively communicate with internal stakeholders and external partners, and influence key decisions.

Provide production support and troubleshooting for errors with automations running in production.

Availability for occasional work outside normal business hours.

Compensation Information

Estimated Base Salary Range: $145,000 - $160,000
-
Target short-term incentive opportunity: 20%
