Software Developer (intermediate/senior levels)

Arterys is the leader in the space where artificial intelligence meets medical imaging and healthcare. Our platform is transforming medical imaging by moving away from local hospital medical imaging software to cloud AI and web-based medical imaging analytics. Arterys is a venture-backed startup with offices in San Francisco, Calgary, and Paris.


You will be responsible for providing broad-based support and input into the design, development, testing, bug fixing, documentation and maintenance of Arterys software. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in a similar role and Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the engineering and product team to understand software requirements, deliverables, and timelines to support the objectives of the business
  • Participate in various aspects of the software development lifecycle including requirements, design, implementation, testing, and support
  • Unit and system test new services, releases, and software upgrades.
  • Work on advanced, complex technical projects requiring state of the art technical knowledge
  • All other duties within job scope as requested

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience in a commercial software development environment
  • Experience with object-oriented design and programming languages
  • Experience with test automation and CI/CD
  • Experience with practicing software configuration management in a large team
  • Experience or interest in ML engineering
  • Familiarity with Agile software development and methodology
  • Motivated, proactive and willing to learn within a fast-paced environment

Specialization Qualifications:

  • Required skills:
    • Experience in PACS front-end development including multi-monitor support, radiology hanging protocols, worklist prioritization, desktop integrations and general radiologist workflow
    • Experience in one or more of the following standards: DICOM, DICOMweb, HL7, FHIR, FHIRcast and CDA
    • Experience in working with medical images from one of the following modalities: CR/DX, CT, MR, US, NM, MG, XA
  • Preferred skills:
    • Experience in building multi-tenant cloud applications leveraging cloud provider services
    • Knowledge in computational optimization (CPU, GPU, memory, network)
    • Experience in large data stream transfer using HTTP, HTTP/2 or HTTP/3
    • Experience in browser technologies such as WebGL2, WebAssembly, web worker, shared workers, SVG
    • Experience in modular browser application development
    • Experience in image compression (JPEGLossless, JPEG-LS, JPEG2000, JPEG-XL, PNG)
    • Experience in Web-dev, SaaS, Edge Computing, etc.
    • Knowledge in medical imaging 3D visualization, MPR registration
