Pacific Biosciences is looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer to develop software for a package of data analysis and analytical workflow management tools used on large computer clusters for genomic analysis. These applications will be used by PacBio customers and by internal engineers and scientists at PacBio.
In addition to excellent technical and problem-solving skills, the successful candidate will have excellent written and oral communications skills to be able to interface with product managers, customers, and engineers and scientists from a range of technical disciplines.
Responsibilities:

Design and develop software tools for data management, data analysis, and analytical workflow management.

Target software environments include Amazon Web Services (AWS) multi-tenant SAAS servers and customer-owned workstations and high-performance computing clusters.
Requirements:
-
Typically requires 9-12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 7-10 years with a Master’s degree; or 6-9 years with a PhD.

Degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or similar technical discipline.

At least 5 years’ professional software engineering experience

Strong software engineering skills.

Strong programming skills in at least two of these four languages: Python, Java, C++, and Scala.

Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies and SDKs.

Experience developing and supporting multi-tenant production level SAAS solutions on AWS (preferably also on Azure and Google).

Fast learner with broad interests in science and technology.

Team player, detail oriented, comfortable learning about new technical areas and working with scientists and engineers from different disciplines.

Experience with genomics and/or scientific instrumentation is a plus.
You may be required from time to time to visit and work at PacBio locations and for such times as the Company considers necessary for the proper performance of your duties.

Salary Range:
$191,300.00 - $258,800.00
