Senior DevOps EngineerWe are looking for an experienced DevOps engineer to join our platform engineering team to help design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines and ensure smooth deployment of customer workloads on our platforms. We are seeking a passionate and experienced technologist who excels in communication and is committed to continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will confidently propose practical solutions to complex problems and will be enthusiastic about both learning from and teaching others. As a DevOps Engineer, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to tackle complex challenges and create world-class infrastructure, contributing to our innovative and exciting developer experience.ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines for our platform teams. That includes API management platform, data streaming platform, monitoring platform, and container platform.Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure smooth deployment of applications.Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize performance of infrastructure and applications.Develop and maintain configuration management and infrastructure-as-code scripts.Ensure security, reliability, and scalability of systems.Selecting and deploying the appropriate CI/CD tools and performing any configuration management.Monitoring the development processes during the whole lifecycle to ensure their adherence and creating or updating new processes and minimize any waste.Promoting and building automated processes wherever feasible.Contribute to creation, management and upkeep of Intranet FAQs, User guides and Knowledgebase, standards and build documents for CICD patterns.Provide leadership in identifying new concepts, ideas, techniques, and technology assistance (best practices, guidelines, and design patterns for supported technologies)Skills and Experience7+ years of experience developing automated build and deployment pipelines.Source management tools such as GitHub or Azure DevOpsDeployment of continuous integration and continuous deployment technologies such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Enterprise, and ArgoCDCreation of pipelines, Ansible Playbooks, and/or Terraform configurations to automate administrative actions from resource creation to service configuration.Scripting experience with PowerShell, bash, and other scripting languages.Experience working on both Windows and Linux based infrastructure.Experience working with containers, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and container image technologies.Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges.Ability to clearly communicate and present to various levels of the organization.Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detailIndependent and self-motivated and very thorough workerSouthern Company (NYSE: SO) is a leading energy provider serving 9 million residential and commercial customers across the Southeast and beyond through its family of companies.
