About the Role

The Specialist Site Operations role sits within the Legacy Assets Technology team at BHP, and will be based in Tucson, AZ where the Legacy Assets primary office is located. You will be responsible for providing IT technical support and guidance to business stakeholders across United States and Canada. Core accountabilities include ticket management, stakeholder management, site visits, and supporting & coordinating project activities.
BHP Technology is a global function with regionally focused teams in each of the relevant continents. The Specialist Site Operations 1-up manager resides in Saskatoon, SK Canada.
In this role you will:
  • Provide IT technical support for the Legacy Assets business, supported by team members locally and internationally.
  • Problem solve effectively, work under pressure, and thinking strategically.
  • Leverage Windows-based software competencies, technical hardware knowledge, and robust troubleshooting capabilities to help resolve various incidents and requests.
  • Work effectively with team members and end users primarily across US and Canada, but also with the APAC region.
  • Manage relationships with stakeholders at various management levels
  • Be prepared to have plans change. Technology isn’t always predictable, and may require unexpected travel to provide support, or attend conference calls outside regular business hours.
  • Travel to mining operations and respective offices across US and Canada to provide technical support.
  • Work with safety at the forefront, identify potential hazards prior to performing work, and share ideas to improve ways of working.
  • Participate in Technology projects and activities
  • Develop documentation as required for status updates, knowledgebase articles, or ticket comments.

About You

You will be successful in this role when:
  • Are proactively engaging the site-based users, reducing the number of reactive tickets to resolve, and improving overall satisfaction of our site-based stakeholders
  • Our operations are well-documented, needs are well understood, you have clear goals for the next 90 days, and a high-level roadmap for the next 12 months


Experience
  • Technology-related degree, diploma, certificate, or years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrate highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Completed ITIL Foundations, or are familiar with core IT Service Management processes
