Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) Enterprise Support group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a SQL Server Database Administrator! Our team works a remote 9x80 schedule with every other Friday off.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Function independently on moderate to complex database administration activities.
  • Responsibilities include handling security of Microsoft systems, tuning, backups, maintenance, and oversight of moderate to large Microsoft databases.
  • Provide technical support and multiple task management in the areas of systems analysis, database design, testing, and implementation for the successful completion and operations of SQL databases, this includes writing SQL reports and TSQL programming.
  • Participate in upgrades and maintenance of databases.
  • Responsible for work involving technical complexity and employs imaginative, efficient, database solutions.
  • Conducts ongoing analysis of existing databases and tools to eliminate inefficiencies.
  • Work with technical staff to acquire requirements for the database portion of the development projects. Assist in the mentoring, training, and directing work of more junior personnel.
  • Develop, communicate, and maintain detailed work plans and schedules to ensure high quality products are delivered in a defined/agreed period – ensure documented requirements, change management and other IT standard methodologies practices for all endeavors undertaken.
  • Plans and schedules must be adequately comprehensive to allow clear understanding of tasks and breakthroughs. Performs work under the direction of the senior DBA. Work is anticipated to be checked only for the effectiveness of results.
  • Stays ahead of the emerging technologies in Microsoft including but not limited to business intelligence, SharePoint farm administration.
QUALIFICATIONS


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 2-5+ years relevant experience or Advanced degree and 1-3+ year relevant experience OR 10-13+ years relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft SQL Server Administration, including installation, configuration, and upgrades.
  • Must be proficient in TSQL development and troubleshooting.
  • Must have a working knowledge of SSIS, SSRS and SSAS.
  • Excellent customer interpersonal skills
  • Sound judgment and decision-making is a constant requirement to achieve results.
  • Must be able to prioritize activities, resolve complex resource, and budget problems.
  • Must be dedicated and able to take the lead for timely resolution of issues.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of Azure and or working in a cloud environment.

Job Information

  • Salary Grade PR0200: 190 ($70,680 - $116,616) / Salary Grade PR0300: 210 ($93,492 - $154,212)
