Sr. Packaging Technologist - Irving

Assists and assumes responsibility for testing at plant level to evaluate test packaging and find solutions for new packaging requirements. Provides written results/presentations of said testing. Makes recommendations regarding potential cost savings, product improvements and assist in implementation of new packaging, processes, and protocols.

• Partners with the plant management and personnel to conduct testing as required.
• Gathers information from each test and makes recommendations based on testing results.
• Responsible for packaging lab, testing, and maintaining equipment and calibration.
• Able to work with R&D Department on specific product testing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Master’s degree in packaging/technology and 3 years in packaging/technology or related field, or bachelor’s degree in Packaging/Technology or related field and 5 years of experience in packaging or a similar field, preferably in food manufacturing. *Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

• Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Office.
• Currently CPP (Certified Packaging Professional) or willing to get certification.
• Experience in food manufacturing with packaging related responsibilities a plus.
• Experience working on different, simultaneous projects.
• Able to work independently when necessary, showing initiative for future projects.
• Work requires knowledge in packaging material.
• Work requires ability to multitask and change priorities on short notice.
• Work requires ability to follow up on tests and report accurate results.
• Work requires teamwork and interdepartmental cooperation.
• Strong communications Skills.
• Able to travel 30%
• Bi-lingual- English/Spanish a plus.

Pay: $75,900.00 - $98,600.00 per year
