The Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is one of 17 United States Department of Energy (DOE) National Laboratories. SRNL, a multi-program national laboratory, is a leading research and development institution for the Offices of Environmental Management and Legacy Management at the U.S. Department of Energy and the Weapons and Nonproliferation programs for the National Nuclear Security Administration.

Managed and operated by Battelle Savannah River Alliance (BSRA), a non-profit limited liability company, or LLC, which best facilitates our operations as an independent Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC).

The BSRA university partners include the University of South Carolina, Clemson University, South Carolina State University, Georgia Tech, the University of Georgia.

What You'll Do in This Position

Savannah River National Laboratory is seeking entry level Engineers to join a dynamic custom equipment development organization creating innovative solutions for the Savannah River Site, DOE complex and national security missions. The selected candidate will be employed at the Savanah River National Laboratory, in Advanced Engineering. Initial focus will be on automation, robotics, controls, instrumentation, and data acquisition system development. Seeking entry level Engineers that are creative, flexible, and self-motivated individuals able to lead multidisciplinary teams and individually to develop one-of-a-kind engineering solutions in a safe and responsible manner.

Ideal candidates will be an entry level engineer and capable of:

• Developing, designing, fabricating, assembling, testing, calibrating, and deploying systems to meet unique technical challenges.
• Deliver results in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Understand and apply advanced knowledge of standard theories, concepts, principles, and techniques in engineering.
• Scope technical tasks and develop creative technical solutions to assigned problems.
• Accept challenging tasks and receives guidance and direction from senior professionals.

Security Clearance Information

BSRA is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with BSRA may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance. This list of factors is not exhaustive; pre-employment information and security clearance requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Qualifications We Require

Candidates must complete a Bachelor of Science or a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Nuclear Engineering before or by June 2024 to be considered for this opportunity.

Candidates must have a current 3.0 GPA or higher to be considered for this opportunity. In addition, candidates are asked to include their current GPA on their resume.

Other Qualifications

Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
