Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is a multi-program laboratory applying state of the art science and practical, high-value, cost-effective solutions to complex technical problems to protect the nation. Located in Aiken SC, at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Savannah River Site (SRS) in Aiken, SC. The laboratory develops and deploys innovative technologies to address some of the nation’s environmental, energy, and national security challenges.
SRNL is seeking post master’s interns in the fields of engineering, cyber security and computer technology, material sciences, and science fields, to join the Global Security Directorate (GSD) Team. These interns will embed themselves in all areas of the directorate like, Nuclear Nonproliferation and Advanced Technology Analysis (ATA), and the new Nonproliferation Applied Science Center (NASC). The NASC will navigate the nexus of Climate Change, Clean Energy, and Nuclear Proliferation. Team members will support and enrich your research and professional goals through their outstanding breadth and depth of expertise in their respective fields. The intern will work independently when applicable but will also receive daily input and supervision from their mentor. The mentor will also ensure the intern understands the goals of the lab and has a clear understanding of expectations, culture, and deadlines in the group and team. This position provides an opportunity to apply your skills toward a variety of impactful problems. Our teams will provide context, background, and guidance as you familiarize yourself with the domain-specific applications. While the overall research goals for these projects have been established, there is significant flexibility in the way these goals can be achieved, and novel approaches are encouraged.
The hourly base rate of pay for this internship $31.79

Basic Education Qualifications
Applicants must have obtained a masters degree in cyber, information technology, engineering or science program from an accredited university or college.
Accumulative GPA of 2.5 required to apply

Preferred Qualifications
Have proven experience in areas of research in spectroscopy, analytical chemistry, actinide chemistry, cyber security, microelectronics, semi-conductors, modeling and simulation, Intelligence Analysis and Support, policy support, virtual reality research, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) research and development, packaging technology, field campaigns and sample collection systems, and material processing
