Join the team as our next Staff Product Manager on Twilio's Engage product team.
Twilio powers real-time business communications and data solutions that help companies and developers worldwide build better applications and customer experiences.
Although we're headquartered in San Francisco, we have presence throughout South America, Europe, Asia and Australia. We're on a journey to becoming a globally anti-racist, anti-oppressive, anti-bias company that actively opposes racism and all forms of oppression and bias. At Twilio, we support diversity, equity & inclusion wherever we do business. We employ thousands of Twilions worldwide, and we're looking for more builders, creators, and visionaries to help fuel our growth momentum.
This PM will be a product platform owner of our campaigns products which includes Journeys and Broadcasts. This candidate will own a roadmap to build internal and customer-facing features that unlock new use cases for marketers.
In this role, you'll:
Define the core workflow operators and logic for our Journeys system.
Balance the needs of internal application teams and external customers.
Work closely with engineering, design, and research partners to define problems and scope solutions
Not all applicants will have skills that match a job description exactly. Twilio values diverse experiences in other industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. While having "desired" qualifications make for a strong candidate, we encourage applicants with alternative experiences to also apply. If your career is just starting or hasn't followed a traditional path, don't let that stop you from considering Twilio. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!
Required:
Data-Focused - You are able to make decisions based on quantitative data. You have experience creating metrics to evaluate your product success and impact on the business, and data is baked into your product development process from an early stage.
Empathy for internal and external customers - this team has both internal application team customers as well as paying external customers. A successful PM needs to be able to effectively align timelines with internal partner teams, and also craft a compelling customer-facing roadmap. Experience working across multiple teams is a key differentiator for this role.
Start Together Mentality - The Campaigns team fosters a culture where product, engineering, design, and research start together on projects and collaboratively build towards solutions. A strong candidate is able to work across all of these different functions and build consensus on solutions. A differentiated candidate has experience working with design, research, and engineering partners and can articulate a framework for how they deal with different stakeholders.
Ruthless prioritization - A strong candidate is able to constantly evaluate competing priorities and clearly align the team on the highest-impact work. A strong candidate is able to categorize and balance different types of needs: tech debt, architectural investments, quick-wins. A differentiated candidate also is able to communicate a decision framework to the broader team. How was a decision made and why?
Ability to navigate distributed systems and data - this candidate will need to be able to understand and communicate the components of a complex distributed technical system including API calls, data structures, data warehouses, and state machines. The challenge for this candidate will be to convey customer problems in a way that gives our engineering partners sufficient latitude in finding solutions. In essence a strong candidate can speak the technical language without needing to pre-solve for engineering.
Persuade with stories - This PM needs to synthesize quantitative and qualitative data into a compelling pitch for the future of the product. A strong candidate is able to seamlessly cite evidence and build consensus. A differentiated candidate is able to naturally weave customer stories into presentations.
Desired:
Marketer Empathy - Our applications and data products ultimately serve marketing use cases. A differentiated candidate will be able to use past marketing experience to better connect with our customers and convey needs to engineers. A differentiated candidate will have had prior experience building products for marketers or working in a marketing function.
This role will be remote, and based in the U.S.
This role will be remote but is not eligible to be hired in San Francisco, CA, Oakland, CA, San Jose, CA, or the surrounding areas.
