Staff Software Engineer, Marketplace Dynamics (Remote)

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Marketplace Dynamics engineering team, you'll be building systems that use analytics, engineering, and data science to match users with Catering Partners and help them make the best ordering decisions. This team is responsible for data models and populating them with a variety of human and machine sources to efficiently and effectively match the demand and supply sides of the business.

What You'll Do:

• Join a team that is focused on delighting our customers, executing the organization's mission, and propelling our business forward. Build products utilizing Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, and other technologies.
• Own and maintain systems related to search, recommendations, guided ordering, and other areas enabling the ecommerce marketplace.
• Respond to customer and business requests by evolving our existing products and identifying areas that would benefit from new initiatives.
• Partner with data technology to turn data models into user-facing features
• Decompose problems, design technical solutions, and work with other talented engineers to implement, test, and evaluate your team's work.
• Communicate with your team to ensure mission clarity and provide technical direction. Improve our user experience by increasing the capability and efficiency of our systems and products; based on research, data, and metrics.
• Share ideas for improving the product, technology, and/or process.
• Operate with scale and speed embracing new challenges and contributing to the development lifecycle.
• Have fun building meaningful software with awesome people.

What You Have:

• Experience with search or other data-intensive technologies
• Proficiency with Ruby and additional object-oriented languages, ML engineering experience a plus.
• Strong skills with SQL and relational databases.
• A platform mindset - you enjoy working on systems that improve development stories for other engineers
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a drive to produce quality documentation
• A strong appetite for learning and an ability to leverage what you learn to make our platform better
• An appreciation for the craft of coding, with opinions derived from this appreciation
• A friendly, flexible, and pragmatic disposition
• 5+ years of professional development experience

The national cash compensation range for this role is $180,000 - $227,000* per year.
