PacBio is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our platform infrastructure team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our DNA sequencing OS layer plus infrastructure and automation processes. The ideal candidate will have experience in curating OS configurations for performance, developing and deploying software, as well as experience in configuring and managing diverse platforms. The engineer will work closely with development, verification/validation, and manufacturing teams to improve software delivery and reliability, as well as monitor and improve system performance.
Responsibilities:

Advise and develop OS platform distributions and configurations for our products.

Investigate, analyze, and troubleshoot software and hardware issues on Linux based systems.

Debug system-level and multi-subsystem issues from kernel to application.

Design, build, document and maintain infrastructure and automation to support software applications, tools, and builds.

Identify, isolate, and resolve problems using systematic troubleshooting techniques.

Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices, continually improving the organization's infrastructure and systems.
Requirements:
-
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field 7+ years of experience with Linux and platform infrastructure.

Experience with Linux systems administration, including experience with popular Linux distributions (e.g., Ubuntu, Centos or Rocky Linux).

Experience with network and storage systems, including deployment and configuration.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Experience in debugging hardware and software issues in complex computer systems with a deep understanding of system-level interactions.

Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with other teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Strong background in Linux and a deep understanding of automation tools and infrastructure-as-code.

Expertise in Linux kernel troubleshooting, configuration, and debugging.

In depth knowledge of Linux operating systems and internals.

Familiarity with configuration management tools such as: Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc.

Salary Range:
$162,600.00 - $220,000.00
