Property Accounting Manager

We are a provider of specialized fund administration services for Managers and General Partners of private equity funds, specifically: Buy‐out, Venture Capital, Real Estate and Fund‐of‐ Funds. For new General Partners, we provide consulting services to help accelerate the launch of their funds in addition to our full fund administration services. For established General Partners, we provide administration services and technology to whole fund families or select funds, to help scale their fund operations rapidly and efficiently. 

 
 

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Property Accounting Manager to oversee the financial reporting and accounting functions for a portfolio of approximately 180+ retail strip center properties. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial property accounting, financial reporting, and process optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary accounting liaison between the client’s internal departments (Asset Management, Portfolio Management), external investment accounting team, and external property management companies.
  • Review and analyze property-level financial reporting, including Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets, ensuring accuracy and proposing corrections as needed.
  • Manage cash management activities, including property distributions and contributions and mid-month cash cutoff.
  • Maintain the overall integrity of financial records for the assigned property portfolio.
  • Identify inefficiencies and streamline accounting processes.
  • Follow and recommend improvements to standardized accounting review processes.
  • Provide guidance and support to property management companies on accounting-related inquiries.
  • Onboard and integrate new property management companies.
  • Leverage Yardi to optimize workflow processes and identify automation opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of five years of commercial property accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accrual accounting principles.
  • Proven ability to read, analyze, and articulate financial reports.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple properties in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Yardi required, with experience in Yardi workflow processes a plus.
  • Advanced Excel skills required; proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
