Executes audit programs by advising, preparing reports, developing audit scopes and objectives in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS) and government audit standards (GAS) and the audit manual. May provide testimony at formal or informal hearings.This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.The State of Arizona strives for a work culture that affords employees flexibility, autonomy, and trust. All work, including remote work, should be performed within Arizona unless an exception is properly authorized in advance.Job Duties:Prepares audit work papers to include sufficient, relevant, and competent evidence to provide a basis for conclusions reached by interpreting and evaluating data to determine if the information provided is accurate, reliable and complete.Evaluates activities and internal controls to determine whether controls are designed to be effective and are implemented as designed. Reviews and defines audit steps by deciding what work needs to be performed based on risk factors and adjusting the work plans to better meet audit objectives.Gather, review, and interpret applicable information and data to determine if work was adequately performed to make an accurate conclusion. Examines and evaluates financial and information systems, recommending controls to ensure accuracy, reliability and data integrity.Writes summary analyses of audit findings to explain and justify determinations of error, deficiency, anomaly, and/or violations. Determines and applies appropriate audit methodology, provides guidance and recommends changes to ensure accuracy and consistency on future construction projects.Analyze activities to determine if they are in accordance with state/federal law, policy, contract in compliance audit. Analyze/test business records to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable laws, policies and procedures; and accuracy and compliance of accounting methods, procedures, and results.Submits comprehensive reports to appropriate division personnel for compliance follow up as necessary. Coordinates with other agency personnel as required to clarify findings, interpret and apply state laws, policies and procedures and accounting principles, and provide technical assistance.Other duties as assigned as related to the position.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):Knowledge:- Auditing accounting and auditing methods and system; of general auditing standards and procedures.- Computer technology principles, terminology and programming. Google Workspace.- Federal regulations, Arizona Revised Statutes, applicable agency manuals, and policies and procedures.Skill:- Accurately analyze and interpret data.- Communicate effectively and train others.Ability:- Compose clear and concise audit reports.- Accurately complete and assemble audit working papers.- Upon satisfactory completion of department promotional standards and demonstration of competency for all job requirements, employees may be eligible to be promoted to the next level.Selective Preference(s):BA in accounting or closely related and at least two years experience as an Auditor or equivalent.Pre-Employment Requirements:This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.)
