About the position The Physician and Surgeon, CF (Internal Medicine/Family Practice) position at the California Institution for Women (CIW) involves providing comprehensive medical care to patients within a correctional facility setting. The role also includes instructing nursing and clinical staff, thereby fostering a collaborative healthcare environment. The Physician & Surgeon will be expected to participate in on-call duties, which may involve responding to urgent medical situations as they arise within the facility. This position is a limited-term appointment for 12 months, with the possibility of extension up to 24 months or conversion to a permanent role. The successful candidate will be required to work full-time in the office, located in San Bernardino County, and will be expected to travel as part of their duties.
