This position is also eligible for a 15% training and recruitment stipend!Office of Information Services is seeking motivated candidates for the position of Unix Database Programmer in the Information Services Division.Who are we?As a member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring all databases are functional and up to date.Work hours for this position are Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:• Shared responsibility for the day-to-day management of all SOS databases• Ad-hoc queries for all supported databases as required by the business community.• Maintains and designs new databases using Oracle and MS SQL.• Manages the backup and recovery of all SOS databases.• Analyzes, Designs, implements, and manages database-related batch processes.In order to be successful, you must have:• Demonstrated ability to define and resolve complex technical problems independently• The ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing to both technical and non-technical audiences• Three years of experience with Unix Shell Scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Perl, etc.)• Three years of experience with Oracle PL/SQL• Two years of experience with Database Administration (RMAN, opatch, Oracle Enterprise Manager and command-line utilities)• Experience with version control software (SVN, GitHub)• Experience with batch scheduling and automation tools (Jenkins)• Excellent organizational and time-management skills• Friendly and collaborative interpersonal skillsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:• Education, training, and/or experience in complex computer programming, analysis, and design, database management, or another information technology oriented field demonstrating:• competency in operational planning and development• implementation of technical processes and procedures.For more information or questions, please contact: Matthew Dudley or call (207) 441-4512.Why join our team?No matter where you work across Maine state government, you find employees who embody our state motto—"Dirigo" or "I lead"—as they provide essential services to Mainers every day.
