State of New Hampshire Job PostingRevenue AdministrationCollections DivisionConcord NH 03301Collections Compliance Officer IHourly Range: $19.96 to $21.63Position #14528The State of New Hampshire, Revenue Administration, Collections Division, has a full-time vacancy for Collections Compliance Officer.Summary:Performs entry-level tax enforcement, licensing, and compliance work. Performs collection activity preparation on less complex, small balance accounts.YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS - Under a recent change to the rules, an applicant's relevant experience now counts towards formal education degrees referenced below! See Per 405.01 .18 Months of additional relevant experience = Associate's degree36 Months of additional relevant experience = Bachelor's degree54 Months of additional relevant experience = Master's degreeMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Associate's degree from a recognized college or completion of a two-year business college with major study in accounting, auditing or business administration. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.Experience: Four years' experience in public contact work, two years of which shall have been involved with the preparation, maintenance or collection of financial accounts, inspection or investigatory work. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.License/Certification: Valid New Hampshire driver's license.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must have sufficient strength and be free from disabilities that would prevent lifting of tobacco stamp cartons and other related physical tasks.Responsibilities:• Runs monthly report of taxpayers that have not filed returns timely, performs mail merge activities for written correspondence to taxpayer.• Prepares and distributes divisional correspondence, memos, letters, reports or other documents as needed.• Uses templates to prepare legal paperwork on delinquent taxpayers, determined by Compliance Operator II.• Administrative preparation of liens, lien releases, and distraint receipts from collection activities.• Contacts delinquent taxpayers to collect unpaid taxes on small dollar balances. Notify taxpayers of delinquent taxes to initiate payment plans for approval by Compliance Officer II. Reviews small balance accounts for referral to Compliance Officer II for field work.• Assists taxpayers with licensing and filing requirements in person and/or on the phone. Assists taxpayers in the preparation of meals and rental applications and provides assistance for completing and filing meals and rentals returns.• Performs field work for Tobacco compliance checks at retail locations and prepares subsequent report. Retrieves tobacco stamps front vault to be transferred to front office.• Back-up for front desk duties. Answers the division telephone queues and assists taxpayers with their accounts.• Maintains taxpayer case files with up to date status information through the use of Department information systems.
