DSHS DDA Licensed Practical Nurse 4The Licensed Practical Nurse 4 (LPN) position is a critical role within the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) State Operated Community Residential (SOCR) program. The SOCR program operates 24/7 residential services for adults and children with developmental and intellectual disabilities, including those with mental health and community protection needs. This position involves providing direct nursing care and support to clients in SOLA, Intensive Habilitation Services (IHS), and Stabilization, Assessment, and Intervention Facilities (SAIF).As an LPN, you will deliver practical nursing services, maintain professional communication with healthcare professionals, and ensure comprehensive healthcare oversight. Your role includes participating in treatment planning, promoting nurse delegation, and providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities and complex medical needs.Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use.Some of what you will do• Provide Client Care: Deliver nursing care to clients with developmental disabilities and mental health disorders, administer medications, assess health status, and respond to emergencies.• Coordinate Healthcare Services: Work with healthcare providers and community programs, manage hospitalizations, and ensure clients' medical stability and continuity of care.• Train and Support Staff: Oversee and train staff on health protocols, nurse delegation, and medication management. Assist new staff with certifications and ongoing training.• Maintain Documentation: Keep accurate health records, document care plans, report incidents, and ensure compliance with healthcare policies and regulations.• Ensure Safety and Infection Control: Follow and enforce infection control protocols, coordinate with health authorities, and manage Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).• Support Program Development: Contribute to nursing care plans, program procedures, and individualized support plans. Assist in environmental modifications and resource management.• Handle Administrative Duties: Complete required reports, participate in meetings, monitor medication errors, and report risks to vulnerable adults to the appropriate authorities.Who should apply?• Professionals who possess a valid LPN license to practice within the state of Washington AND one year of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse.Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities• Proficiency in applying nursing principles and techniques, with a thorough understanding of developmental disabilities, common medical conditions, and medication reactions.• Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey information to clients, families, and staff, conduct training, and use alternative communication methods.• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, build positive relationships, and show cultural sensitivity and adaptability.• Competence in interpreting and applying complex policies and regulations, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring compliance with mandatory reporting requirements.• Excellent organizational skills, flexibility in adapting to changing needs, ability to work flexible hours, and basic computer skills for effective task management.Additional Information:• Work Schedule: The LPN will typically work one day per week (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) at each program within the region, with additional time as needed. The schedule may vary based on program needs and will be finalized in collaboration with the LPN and RN after hiring.• Transportation: State vehicles are available for travel between program locations.
