Network Operations

We're building a new healthcare clearinghouse

In the healthcare sector, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) requires that all insurance payers exchange transactions such as claims, eligibility checks, prior authorizations, and remittances using a standardized EDI format called X12 HIPAA. A small group of legacy clearinghouses process the majority of these transactions, offering consolidated connectivity to carriers and providers.

Stedi is building the world’s only API-first clearinghouse. By offering modern API interfaces alongside traditional real-time and batch EDI processes, we enable both healthcare technology businesses and established players to exchange mission-critical transactions.

Stedi has lightning in a bottle: engineers and designers shipping products week in and week out; a lean business team supporting the company’s infrastructure; passion for automation and eliminating toil; $92 million in funding from top investors like Stripe, Addition, USV, Bloomberg Beta, First Round Capital, and more.

What we’re looking for

Our goal is to increase the number of direct payer integrations that we have by 100x over the next 12 months. This is a complex problem that involves massively parallelizing a process across many payers simultaneously – a process that includes legal agreements, technical implementation and testing, relationship building, and a general do-whatever-it-takes approach to keep the payers moving through the pipeline.

We’re looking for an individual to define, own, and execute this process end-to-end. Your goal is simple: establish direct connectivity with as many of our 3,000+ payer connections as possible, as quickly as possible. You’ll be expected to shepherd the first handful of integrations through the pipeline yourself before building a lean team to scale the process.

You’ll work directly with other senior leaders on one of Stedi’s highest-priority projects with opportunities to expand scope as you deliver against the payer roadmap.

What you'll do

  • Establish and continuously improve Stedi’s “payer onboarding playbook”

  • Create and maintain a prioritized list of net new integrations in our CRM

  • Establish first contact with payers and work through each step of the process until until the payer integration is in production

  • Collaborate with engineering, customer operations, finance, product, and legal to get each integration across the line

  • Build and foster relationships with key stakeholders at payers

  • Identify and execute opportunities to expand existing payer relationships

  • Hire and manage a lean team once you prove out the operational model.

Who you are

  • You have exceptional client or partner-facing experience. You previously come from a role that requires relationship management combined with project management, such as consulting, partnerships, business development, or growth/expansion. You know that most of the work is sending emails, scheduling meetings, tracking tasks, and sending reminders, but the payoffs are massive.

  • You understand healthcare. You have worked in the healthcare industry previously. Experience at clearinghouses, RCM businesses, healthcare providers, or payers is a plus.

  • You’re a master at navigating ambiguity. There won’t be a universal roadmap for initiating, advancing, and launching payer partnerships. You will create it.

  • You’ve managed a large pipeline or multiple engagements simultaneously, staying on top of every thread. You are hyper-responsive, organized, and thorough. You almost never drop balls.

  • You are technically proficient. You can learn and adopt new tools quickly, and you know how to automate repetitive tasks.

  • You do what it takes to get the job done. You are resourceful, self-motivating, self-disciplined, and don’t wait to be told what to do. You put in the hours.

  • You move quickly. We move quickly as an organization. This requires an ability to match our pace and not get lost by responding with urgency (both externally to payers and internally to stakeholders), communicating what you are working on, and proactively asking for help or feedback when you need it.

  • You are a “bottom feeder”. You thrive on the detail. No task is too small in order to find success, generate revenue, and improve our costs.

At Stedi, we're looking for people who are deeply curious and aligned to our ways of working. You're encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn't perfectly match the job description.
