Substack is building a new economic engine for culture, with over 3 million paid subscriptions to writers, podcasters, and video-makers on the platform. We’re driving a fundamental shift in how writers and creators reach their audiences. As our Social Media Producer, you will manage the day-to-day social posting and strategy that underpins this mission. 

In this role, you’ll help amplify the stories and voices of Substack creators across our social channels, especially on Substack Notes, TikTok, and Instagram. Along with a love of storytelling and strong attention to detail, you will be obsessed with the internet and excited by the opportunity to get creative and experiment. You’ll be eager to join an agile team, and comfortable moving quickly while maintaining a high level of execution. This position will report directly to the Head of Communications. 

Substack’s compensation package includes a market-competitive salary, equity for all full-time roles, and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation salary range for this role is $85,000-$100,000. Multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, determine final offer amounts and may vary from the amounts listed above.

Core responsibilities: 

• Create, edit, produce, and publish audio, visual, and written content for Substack’s social media channels 
• Launch and lead Substack’s TikTok channel, collaborating with creators to spotlight stories and trends
• Innovate and execute original editorial formats and video series tailored for each platform, bringing fresh ideas to the table 
• Manage the social content calendar, providing updates and insights to enhance team collaboration
• Measure and analyze social data and turn it into actionable next steps
• Work directly with writers and creators, owning end-to-end social content production.

About You (Minimum Requirements):  

• Experienced in producing short-form video projects, with 2-5 years in social production for global media or tech brands
• Experience with social measurement tools, and turning insights into action 
• Eager to develop and apply best practices across our social channels
• Ambitious, with a high sense of initiative. A background as a creator is a plus!
• An excellent written and verbal communicator, able to foster understanding and teamwork remotely and cross-functionally 
• Passionate about free expression, empowering creators, and reimagining content beyond traditional advertising models
• Located in the Bay Area or New York City (required).
