Job Description
Reporting to the Executive Director of the Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability Department the Sustainability Director/Manager provides leadership, coordination, and oversight of Idaho State University's Sustainability Program. This position partners with academic, research, operations, and student groups and units to develop initiatives and activities related to environmental stewardship and sustainability. This position is responsible for fostering a culture of sustainability among students, faculty, and staff.
Key responsibilities include:
- Facilitate sustainability initiatives within the Campus Operations Division by working directly with Maintenance and Operations, Custodial, University Events and Parking and Transportation

Lead the development of short and long-term planning for renewable energy, greenhouse gas emissions reductions, resource conservation and waste minimization
- Partner with Public Safety to plan and implement electric vehicle charging infrastructure and the adoption of electric vehicles and carts

Collect and analyze data for utilization in the Sustainability Tracking Assessment and Rating System (STARS) and Idaho State University's Sustainability Plan
- Create and maintain a public facing sustainability dashboard
- Develop materials for the campus community that highlight sustainability initiatives and practices
- Partner with the Associated Students of Idaho State University to develop sustainability initiatives across campus that directly serve students and foster their engagement in sustainability behaviors
- Support existing environmental initiatives and serve as a campus educational resource for sustainability information, best practices, data and standards

Assess and analyze institutional policies and process to identify areas in which efficiencies can be created to further the organization's commitment to sustainability

Prepare presentations and reports for leadership and other key stakeholders

Coordinate the Sustainability Council and administer the Student Sustainability Fund

Lead the Presidential Sustainability Charter and Charter Committee
- Supervise and coordinate the work of student interns
Special Requirements:
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodations

- Ability to respond to after-hours emergencies
Minimum Qualifications
Depending on qualifications and experience, candidates will be considered for either the Sustainability Director or Sustainability Manager position in accordance with the minimum qualifications outlined below.
Minimum Qualifications: Sustainability Manager

Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as engineering, sustainability, environmental policy, environmental science AND
- Three years of experience coordinating sustainability initiatives, environmental science, environmental programs, environmental permits or outdoor education

In lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, ten years of training and experience in sustainability initiatives, environmental science, environmental programs, environmental permits, outdoor education or environmental policy and planning
-
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Minimum Qualifications: Sustainability Director

Master's Degree in a relevant field such as engineering, sustainability,environmental policy, environmental science AND
-
Five years of experience coordinating sustainability initiatives

Excellent organizational and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications

Salary will be between $65,000 and $100,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
