Senior+ Product Designer

Swarmia was founded to help software teams continuously improve how they work and build software. Every day, we work closely with some of the best software companies in the world, helping them build happier and more productive software teams. We aim to build the best-designed product in our category, and we have also been praised for our design and user experience (G2 - Easiest to Use, Fall 2024).

As a Senior+ Product Designer, you’ll join one of our cross-functional product teams, tackling a variety of design challenges, from improving user onboarding and designing better data visualizations, to building completely new products, AI-powered tooling and more. It’s an opportunity to become an early member of a fast-growing company in an evolving space, and influence how thousands of software teams work every day.

We're looking for people who are both generalists and specialists: we're a small team where everyone knows a little about everything, and everyone knows a lot about something.

You’re a great fit for this role if you:

  • Have 5+ years of experience designing and shipping great digital products

  • Have experience working in product teams and collaborating cross-functionally to get things done.

  • Get involved in every stage of the product development process, from research and ideation to prototyping, building, and testing solutions with customers.

  • Can’t imagine your design process without talking to end users regularly (at Swarmia we aim for designers to join at least one customer meeting per week)

  • View collaboration with software developers as an integral part of your design process

  • Are interested in learning how great companies build software

  • Familiarity with GitHub, and the basics of software development is a plus — but you don’t have to be an expert. We’re happy to help you learn and grow.

We know you’re busy, so having a portfolio is not a requirement. It’s enough to be ready to show and talk about some of your best work.

About Swarmia

  • We’re a well-funded company founded in 2019. Our latest funding round was in April 2023. Our team members are working in different cities in Finland and the US.

  • We believe in improving software development so much so that we’ve written a book about it, it’s called Build. We also host a podcast called Engineering Unblocked, featuring guests from companies like Stripe, Webflow, and Sentry.

  • We’re moving fast. We ship new features every week, and write about them in our Changelog.

  • We believe in autonomous teams. Each team owns a product area and all its product context. You’ll participate in customer research from day one, learning directly from the best software companies out there.

  • We work together to solve customer problems — we call it Swarming it — and collaborate cross-functionally to make it happen. If you’re interested in learning more about Engineering, Marketing, Sales, or building a great product, Swarmia is the right place for you.

What we offer

  • A highly experienced and motivated team

  • 70-90 k€ annual salary plus a meaningful amount of equity

  • 10 extra days of paid vacation when you start, on top of the regular paid annual vacation

  • Flexible working arrangements — you can work remotely, or work from our office space in central 📍 Helsinki

  • Great work/life balance - we're a startup, but we don’t crunch or work at an unsustainable pace (many of us have kids and other responsibilities beyond work)
