System Development Engineer

Description

• The System Development Engineer is responsible for requirements elicitation and agreement of those with stakeholders (SYS.1), developing the system product specifications (SYS.2) and transferring the requirements into a system design by updating the system model on logical and physical level (SYS.3). More, the System Development Engineer owns or contributes to analysis like FMEA, FTA and DFA on system level.

Responsibilities:

• Elicit and analyze stakeholder requirements
• Allocate stakeholder requirements to system features/functions and engineering disciplines
• Derive system requirements out of stakeholder requirements specifying the characteristics, attributes, functional and non-functional requirements the system is to possess in order to satisfy the stakeholder requirements (see ISO 15288:2015)
• Support development and test teams during the implementation and test of the system requirements and design
• Add the system design for the derived system requirements to the logical and physical level of the system model. The design shall provide sufficient detailed data and information about the system and its elements and interfaces to allow other disciplines to derive the requirements per system element. This shall be done in close cooperation with development and test teams
• Develop or update the system analysis (FMEA, FTA, DFA), if required

Skills & Competencies:

Technical Skills:

• Knowledge of (deeper understanding) the product and working experience in developing safety critical systems
• Knowledge and experience in communication methods with customers and stakeholders to agree / elicit stakeholder requirements
• Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering (IREB certified)
• Knowledge and strong experience in system modelling methods (SysML)
• Knowledge and experience in describing the functionality of a product (black box) in its environment/context as well as the internal system elements and their interfaces (white box)

Knowledge and experience in:

• Assigned process activities, related work products and work instructions
• Methods, procedures and techniques required by functional safety standard (ISO 26262)
• Methods, procedures and techniques required by cyber security standard (ISO 21434)

Tool Skills

Basic knowledge in:

• Reporting and metric tools (e.g. PowerBI)
• Resource allocation and management tools (e.g. Clarity, MS Project)

Medium knowledge in:

• PLM and risk management tools (e.g. PTC Integrity, Windchill, Clarity)
• Technical risk analysis tools (e.g. Medini Analysis)

Advanced knowledge in:

• Requirements management tools (e.g. IBM DOORS)
• Architecture related tools (e.g. IBM Rhapsody, Inchron Timing Analyser)
